FS-3780 Fluorosilicone HCR

stealth bomber

Solvent resistant silicones are historically used for applications that require fuel or hydrocarbon resistance conditions that are common in the aerospace, aircraft and automotive industries. In addition to swell resistance, fluorosilicones can maintain thermal stability at temperatures above 200°C.  NuSil’s line of fluorosilicone based silicones consists of encapsulants, adhesives, gels, foams and dispersion fluids.

NuSil’s FS-3780, a 100 mole percent fluorosilicone High Consistency Rubber (HCR), is ideal for applications requiring solvent resistance and an operating temperature range of -65°C to 240°C (-85°F to 465°F).  It is strained through a 400-mesh screen (minimum) to ensure freedom from particulate contamination and is available in translucent or white to light gray.

The FS-3780 is delivered as an uncatalyzed HCR and requires the addition of a platinum or peroxide base catalyst to cure with heat.  It is designed to be used for transfer or compression molded parts (gaskets, stoppers, and seals) and can be extruded or calendared depending on the processing requirements.

Some typical cured properties are shown in the table below for both the Peroxide and Addition Cure.
