NuSil Technology LLC (http://www.nusil.com), the global leader in silicone materials for the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, announces the release of MED-9050, a high-viscosity, crosslinked silicone gel blend dispersed in cyclopentasiloxane that imparts a silky feeling in creams and lotions.
MED-9050 is designed to be used primarily as a formulary ingredient for topical applications. It can, for instance, be incorporated to reduce tackiness in existing formulations. This gel is a translucent silicone with an average non-volatile content of 10 percent, as supplied. Its unique, grease-like properties make it ideal for skin care and scar management therapies.
“The qualities of MED-9050 enable it to be utilized for its lubricious properties, while providing a non-greasy feel,” said Brian Nash, Vice President, Sales and Marketing.
MED-9050 yielded conforming results against sensitization and tissue culture testing. MED-9050 is designated as “restricted” and may be considered for use in external devices or short-term implant applications of 29 days or less.
