Carpinteria, California – Jan. 30, 2006 - NuSil Technology, a cutting-edge manufacturer of silicone-based materials for healthcare, aerospace, electronics and photonics, has launched its existing primer technology under new healthcare designations.
NuSil’s line of healthcare primers are based on our existing line of primer technology to aid in bonding silicones to a wide range of difficult substrate surfaces. These healthcare primers will be supported by USP Class VI and most ISO 10993 biological testing requirements. In addition, each lot of these new “MED” products undergo cytotoxicity and trace metals testing. NuSil’s long-term goal is to establish FDA masterfiles for these products.
“Responding to healthcare customer demands, we anticipate the new designations and testing requirements to facilitate their use in the industry by accelerating the regulatory submission process,” said Brian Nash.
Below is a chart outlining the new designations and recommended applications or use:
| Product Designation | Application/Use |
|---|
| MED-160 | Basic primer/designed for RTV silicones |
| MED1-161 | Designed for use with platinum-cured silicones |
| MED2-161 | Difficult substrates/platinum-cured silicones |
| MED6-161 | Very difficult substrates/platinum-cured silicones |
| MED-162 | Bonding to polycarbonates/platinumcured silicones |
| MED-163 | Bonding to iridite-coated materials/platinum-cured silicones |
